ECCEN 2026 Conference: Seeking the PEACE of the City

From 28 to 30 October, Christian education professionals from various European countries and beyond gathered in Apeldoorn for the ECCEN 2026 Conference. Centered on the theme Seek the PEACE of the City, the conference focused on fellowship, reflection, and the exchange of ideas.

7th International ECCEN Conference

From 28 to 30 October 2026, the 7th International ECCEN Conference will take place in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. The theme of this year’s conference is “Seek the Peace of the City.”

Is Reading Culture-Specific? Research into Stories That Shape and Connect Children in the Netherlands, Benin and Nepal

How do children from different cultures experience the same story? And what can teachers learn from their responses? The Literacy Research Group at Driestar Christian University explored these questions together with the Woord en Daad Foundation, using the picture book The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. The research yielded valuable insights into reading education, cultural differences and the power of stories to connect people.

French version book 'Bij de Les' available

The French version of ‘Bij de Les!’, a booklet with stories of real-life lessons taught from a Christian perspective, is being published. The booklet contains descriptions of lessons taught in secondary schools in a vast array of subjects, including the natural sciences, social sciences, languages, arts and religious education.

Kick-off International Class 2026

Last week, the International Class officially started at Driestar Christian University for Teacher Education. We are pleased to welcome students from Nepal, South Korea, Indonesia, Hungary and Ukraine, who will spend the coming months learning alongside our fourth-year teacher education students.

Start New International Master’s Cohort

In September, a new group of 10 students started the Master Learning and Innovation – Track Christian Education at Driestar Christian University. The students come from the Netherlands, Germany, France, Nepal, South Africa and Kenya.

New Endowed Chair for Driestar Educatief at TUA

Driestar Educatief has once again established an endowed chair at the Theological University Apeldoorn (TUA) to strengthen the connection between theology and pedagogy.

DCU celebrates 40 years of its Pedagogy programme

The Pedagogy programme at Driestar University of Applied Sciences in Gouda celebrated its 40th anniversary on Wednesday, 24 June. Together with current and former students and professionals from the field, the programme reflected on four decades of investing in the lives of young people and their families. The celebration also looked ahead to the future of pedagogy.

International Guest Lectures
