What is this programme about?
This two-year blended master’s degree is designed to strengthen the skills, knowledge, and leadership capacity of those working in Christian education. Whether your current or future role is as a teacher, principal, or in an educational aid organization, this programme empowers you to bring Christian education in your context to a new level.
Why this programme is special?
- Christian-centred & Globally Engaged
You’ll engage deeply with Christian philosophy, theology, education, and practical practice alongside fellow international students. The programme is taught in English. - Innovative Learning & Research
Each module integrates theological, philosophical, historical, and social perspectives. You’ll conduct action‐research or participative research, designing innovations in your own educational context. A great deal of attention is also paid to your personal development. - Blended Format with On-Campus Seminars
The programme combines online study—regular meetings and independent learning—with two-week on‐campus seminars each year in Gouda, Netherlands. These seminars include school visits and opportunities for teaching practice. Online meeting days are weekly, mostly on Tuesdays.
Structure & Modules
Over four modules (one per semester), you will explore:
- Christian Perspective on Education: A Practices Approach
Reflect on current practices of Christian education, world-wide perspectives, vision building for your own educational context. - Developing Organisations and People
Leadership, curriculum, school ethos, and how to grow both staff spiritual well-being and academic competence. - Religious Education: Formation of Christian Character
Theology, anthropology, Christian views of God and the Kingdom, character, moral and citizenship education. - Transforming Society: Education for Justice and Shalom
Confronting issues like inequality, poverty, diversity from a Christian perspective; applying these in your local setting.
Upon completion, you earn 60 ECTS and the title Master of Education.

Admission:
- Teachers who aim to become teacher with impact.
- Principals/school leaders in Christian schools.
- Professionals working in educational aid organizations.
Tuition fees:
- EU students without a prior Education Master’s: approx. €2,695/year.
- EU & non-EU students with an Education Master’s, or non-EU in general: €7,705/year.
Additional costs (living, accommodation, etc.) are separate.
After your studies
When you complete the programme, you won’t just have a degree—you will be equipped to implement meaningful change in Christian education. You’ll become part of a global network of alumni, invited to online events and able to continue contributing to Christian education in your community and beyond.
