Parents as partners

  • Startdate Unknown
  • Study duration <1 year
  • Level Training
  • Type Part-time

This training contributes to the personal development of teachers and school leaders concerning collaboration with parents. Parent involvement is used to create more opportunities to help children learn better and to become empowered by learning. Teachers learn how to communicate effectively with parents and how to plan and carry out different types of parent involvement.

The framework of Epstein plays a key role in the training. It distinguishes six types of parent involvement in schools. Five types from Epstein’s model are used in the course because we believe they are the most relevant for teachers.
In the course the following types of involvement are used:

  1. Communicating
  2. Learning at home
  3. Parenting
  4. Volunteering
  5. Decision making

Structure of the training
