A few weeks ago, 19 of our fourth-year primary teacher education students travelled to Nepal and Benin for their international project week, also known as the PKF trips. These trips are named after our founding father Piet Kuyt, after whom the Piet Kuyt Foundation is also named.
In preparation for the trip, the students actively collaborated with Woord en Daad to raise funds through a wide variety of initiatives. From selling traditional Dutch oliebollen and organising bingo events to hosting a lively Vinted Live sale, the students showed great creativity and dedication. Together they raised a significant amount of money, which was presented during the trips to partner organisations abroad. In this way, the students contributed to supporting and strengthening Christian education worldwide.
The trips focused on exploring education in an international context and experiencing a different culture. During their visits, the students observed lessons in local schools and also taught classes themselves, sharing about life in the Netherlands. One of the highlights was a “Holland afternoon”, where they organised traditional Dutch games for the entire school.

Alongide the educational activities, there was also time to explore the local culture. Students visited churches, took part in cultural excursions and discovered the beauty of both countries.
Looking back, the students describe the two weeks as an enriching and memorable experience. They gained valuable insights into education around the world and developed practical teaching experiences that they will carry with them into their future classrooms.
